Gylen Lady

Designed By Alasdair Salmon of Duror, this 9m x 3.3m landing craft replaces the previous vessel and maintains and improves the vital service provided to the island community of Kerrera.

The vessel was specifically designed to accommodate a tractor and trailer, cars or general cargo of up to five tonnes.

The boat is of all welded steel construction with a winch operated front ramp to allow loading of vehicles off the concrete slipways at Kerrera and Oban. The aft wheelhouse will accommodate up to six passengers who will include the school children who now have to travel to Oban.

An unusual feature of the boat is the propulsion which comprises two 50 hp Honda outboards supplied by Ardoran Marine of Lerags, Oban. With full remote control from the wheelhouse the outboards provide ample power and are easily accessible for maintenance via a mounting platform on the stern.

Corpach Boatbuilding Company is pleased to have built this vessel on price and on schedule and to have played a part in improving the service to one of Scotland’s remote communities. Duncan Maceachan says he is very pleased with the boat, and Corpach would like to wish him all success in the future.
