Health and safety

The Corpach Boatbuilding Company is responsible for the development and implementation of satisfactory health and safety standards and the directors and management team are committed to ensuring that those standards are met in an effective and efficient manner.

Working safely is a condition of employment and a legal requirement for all employees, and it is vital that employees take a personal interest in their own safety and that of others.

The implementation of safety procedures is an on-going process and whilst the management accepts that it will never be perfect in every sense, we are nevertheless committed to continual improvement. With the support and backing of all employees we will strive to make the working environment as safe and healthy as possible.

Since 2001 the company has employed an independent health and safety consultant, John Gunster, and has worked closely with John to implement a culture of safety within the work place. In 2003 the managing director, Donald Hind, produced a health and safety handbook covering procedures, processes plant and equipment within the boatyard. This has provided a blueprint for all activities within the yard and gives guidelines for all employees to operate in a safe and healthy environment.

In 2007 all company employees gained the British Safety Council Level 1. Health and Safety award.
