Corpach Boatbuilding Company Ltd
Established in 1992 we are a small dedicated team of skilled craftsmen serving the commercial and pleasure boat user alike and specialising in the construction, repair and modification of workboats.
We also undertake general engineering and fish-farm related works and offer a repair and breakdown service to yachts/boats in transit through the Caledonian Canal.
Our policy is to provide a quality service geared to customers requirements and deadlines.
Personnel
Managing Director
Donald Hind formed the company in 1992. He began his career in the Merchant Navy with Shell Oil Tankers, spent 4 years at Art School as a hippie, trained as a teacher, skippered the Sail Training Yacht ‘Arethusa’ for 4 years and owned and skippered the Brixham Sailing Trawler ‘Lorne Leader’ on charter for 10 years. He maintains seatime now by skippering various vessels and undertaking workboat and yacht deliveries throughout the UK.
Yard Manager & Co Director
Sandy Edmond studied Naval Architecture at Glasgow University, graduating 1976, started at Scott Lithgow, lower Clyde, building 300,000T supertankers, then moved to Robertson’s of Sandbank, yachtbuilders and repairers as Manager. After 7 years with the SFIA at the Marine Research Unit, Ardtoe, he spent 2 years managing Craobh Marina, prior to joining Don Hind to help form Corpach Boatbuilding Company. He ran his own survey and repair business 'Scotwest Marine Surverys' alongside these previous jobs.
Administration
Lynne Wilson and Carolyn Clare run and manage the financial, secretarial and administrative side of the office. They also handle the same for the holiday barge ‘Fingal of Caledonia’ plus all the marketing, bookings and telephone enquiries for this organisation. Carolyn has been with the company since the beginning in 1992 and Lynne joined the company in 1997.
Foreman
Gordon MacGillivray has estensive marine and engineering experience having worked in boatyards for fifteen years including being with Corpach Boatbuilding since its inception. He is responsible for the day to day supervision of the workforce and works closely with Sandy Edmond on issues such as quality, safety, training, efficiency and maintenance.
